East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Coalition
The East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Coalition Inc. was formed in November 2002, as an outcome of a meeting of local community members who recognized the need for leadership in the matter of recreation and wellness in the East Beaches area. It is a non-profit organization with the objective of addressing health, wellness and recreation issues for the community as determined by need.
The Coalition took on, as its first project, the push for the creation of a recreation and wellness centre in the East Beaches area. The Coalition worked toward this end for several years. This work lead to the Coalition joining with five other partners, in 2009, to form the East Beaches Regional Complex Board, which added the wellness centre project to their larger Regional Complex initiative.
The Coalition has now resumed their focus of overall health, wellness and recreation in the East Beaches area - of which the wellness centre is one part.
The current members of the Board of directors of this organization are:
- Roberta Carriere, President
- Isabelle Brunel, Vice President
- Audrey Litzenberger, Treasurer
- Claudette Sabourin, Secretary
- Diana Ateah
