East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Coalition
This website currently involves two organizations: the East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Coalition Inc. and the East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Centre.
The East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Coalition Inc. was formed in November 2002, as an outcome of a meeting of local community members who recognized the need for leadership in the matter of recreation and wellness in the East Beaches area. It is a non-profit organization with the objective of addressing health, wellness and recreation issues for the community as determined by need.
The Coalition took on, as its first project, the push for the creation of a recreation and wellness centre in the East Beaches area. The Coalition has been actively working for several years towards making the Centre a reality. To this end, the Coalition has formed a second organization called the East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Centre. The Coalition will hand over the Centre and its operation (including this web site) to this organization once the Centre is built and ready to function.
So, currently, this entire project is the responsibility of and being directed by one group – the East Beaches Recreation and Wellness Coalition Inc. The current members of the Board of directors of this organization are:
- Roberta Carriere, President
- Audrey Litzenberger, Treasurer
- Claudette Sabourin, Secretary
- Diana Ateah
- Isabelle Brunel
- Carol Danwich
- Dianne (Dee) Rickner
- Rob Shura
- Monty Vialoux
The public may join the Coalition by taking out a yearly membership. Membership fees are $10 - which provide voting rights in the Coalition and a voice in the direction of the organization. Members can vote on projects, on Board appointments, be a Board member, sit on committees and actively get involved in making a difference. Members must be of the age of majority, a cardholder and a member in good standing for a period of three (3) months before being eligible for nomination and / or to hold office on the Board of Directors. Memberships are available at Annual General Meetings or, directly from the Coalition at (204)756-3035, or by downloading and mailing in the form at this link: Membership Form
